La Sonnambula

by Vincenzo Bellini

An immersive opera with the Promenade Opera Project

The potluck/initiation ceremony was held at Rengo Studios, a converted auto garage in Somerville, MA.

The opera begins with a potluck around picnic tables as the orchestra tunes.

Please wear your flower crown. It’s for Amina’s engagement to Elvino.

“Qual rumore! Cavalli!”
“What a noise! Horses!”

A white Ford Mustang convertible pulls up and a mysterious stranger walks in the door—it’s the Count!

He decides to stay with Lisa, the Innkeeper, for the night, and the audience follows him.

It may or may not be haunted…

The ghost is just Amina. She’s a sleepwalker, a sonnambula.

But it looks bad when she sleepwalks right into the Count’s room. A scandal!

Let’s see how this all shakes out back in the town square…

Elvino is about to marry Lisa out of spite.

When suddenly…

Amina appears, sleepwalking in front of the whole town.

Amina and Elvino are reunited, and we get our happy ending.
